The Quiz: Which motor vehicle manufacturer is misspelled below?
Americans love their cars, but when it comes to spelling the names of the marques that produce them, they seem to have some difficulty. For all its popularity, Volkswagen is not an easily spelled name, a survey by Zebra found, with 54% of Americans spelling it incorrectly. “Volkswagon” is the most common misspelled variant, followed by “Volckswagen” and “Volxwagon.” Its name is derived from the German words Volk and Wagen, which translate to “people’s car” when combined. Volkswagen was founded in 1937 with the support of Adolf Hitler.
The correct answer to this quiz is Volkswagon.
